Recently, ABB Xiamen Industrial Center has taken a key step in high-quality development, becoming a "carbon neutral" park and a demonstration base for sustainable intelligent manufacturing, and promoting China's green and low-carbon transformation. The project adopts an innovative energy regulation system, integrates the application of new energy power generation and energy storage systems, significantly reduces carbon emissions and improves energy efficiency, and draws a replicable and scalable low-carbon blueprint.
China strives to peak carbon dioxide emissions by 2030 and achieve carbon neutrality by 2060. At present, China accounts for more than 28% of the total global manufacturing industry1. To achieve the goal of carbon neutrality, the low-carbon transformation of China's manufacturing industry is crucial.
ABB Xiamen Industrial Center covers an area of 425,000 square meters and employs 3,000 people. Through the implementation of ABB's global "Zero Emissions Vision Plan", it is expected to reduce carbon emissions by 13,400 tons per year. The project will provide a good demonstration for global customers and partners, clearly demonstrating how ABB's smart digital technology can turn the vision of decarbonization and emission reduction (indirect emissions from electricity consumption) into reality.
ABB Xiamen Industrial Center has advanced medium-voltage and low-voltage switchgear and circuit breaker production lines. By installing 100,000 square meters of rooftop photovoltaics, 50% of green electricity has been replaced. Through the multi-strategy precise and flexible regulation technology, the greater local consumption of clean energy can be realized, and the coordination of source, load and storage can improve the efficiency of energy use. The smart energy solution is equipped with AI algorithms for power generation forecasting and load forecasting. By predicting the situation of power generation and power consumption, it deploys control strategies to achieve a balance between low-carbon power consumption and economy.
The project deploys the ABB Ability™ ZEE600 smart energy management platform to precisely control the "source-network-load-storage" of the park. The platform is connected to photovoltaics, energy storage, power distribution, HVAC, lighting, charging piles and other energy facilities to achieve optimized energy management for the entire park. Among them, the eStorage smart energy storage cabin solution covers power distribution and control equipment. Through regulation and management with the smart energy management system ZEE600, it can effectively balance photovoltaic fluctuations and improve the local consumption rate of photovoltaics; It provides an effective demonstration for the wide application of flexible technology.
The power system of ABB Xiamen Industrial Center is connected to the virtual power plant platform of State Grid Xiamen Power Supply Company. Through the demand-side response independently regulated by the energy management system, a "source-load interaction" is formed, which strongly supports the construction of a new power system.
Distributed rooftop photovoltaic power distribution modules, smart energy storage modules, building loads and orderly charging management of charging piles are all modular solutions. This makes ABB Xiamen Industrial Center's solution easy to replicate at other sites, reducing installation time and project complexity. These packaged solutions and medium and low voltage power distribution equipment are all produced locally in China.
Zhao Yongzhan, President of ABB Electrical China, said that the "Carbon Neutral" Park Demonstration Base Project of ABB Xiamen Industrial Center is a demonstration model for enterprises' low-carbon transformation, and its scope and realization path can provide effective demonstration value for enterprises' rapid low-carbon transformation. Through the wide application of ABB's innovative technology, we show how to accelerate the process of decarbonization. At the same time, this demonstration base also presents to customers and partners the realization of the ambitious goal of how smart technology can empower low-carbon development.
Whether in China or in the world, ABB actively participates in the construction of major projects and key infrastructure, especially the products manufactured by ABB Xiamen have been installed in the data centers of Chengdu Tianfu International Airport, Beijing-Shanghai High-speed Railway, Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and many leading Internet companies and other projects have been successfully applied.
